How to Become a ZooTrader

Zoodak’s online stock market game is a unique opportunity for stock market beginners, and anyone who is interested in learning about the stock market and how to become a stock trader. With Zoodak, becoming a stock market trader is easy; all you have to do to get started is create a virtual stock portfolio.

As players maintain their portfolios, they learn about stock trading and become more accurate in their stock predictions. And with Zoodak, if you ever decide that you’ve outgrown the portfolio you’ve created, you can always set up a new one. Many players maintain two portfolios so that one can be used in competitions and the other can be treated as practice portfolio and can be used more experimentally.

All you have to do to get started is:

Create a portfolio and start playing.
Then head over to our ZooStreet and introduce yourself to us! All of our players love to meet the newest members, and they’re full of great advice.
Once you’ve earned ZooPoints, by maintaining your portfolio (and maybe entering a few Practice Tournaments), checks out our ZooStore where you can cash in your ZooPoints for all sorts of cool prizes.

Zoodak’s virtual stock market and virtual stock traders, also have the option to participate in our online community, ZooStreet. ZooStreet is a place for experienced players and stock traders to help our new members; and for our new members to ask questions, get advice, share what they’ve learned, or just chat. The more you participate, the more our collective communal knowledge grows, and the more we all win! Our Practice Tournaments are chances to test out what you’ve learned and earn ZooPoints, there’s not cost for entry and you can even ask for help from our other virtual stock traders.

Enter a Cash Tournament

Enter a free cash tournament and manage your own virtual portfolio. Each portfolio comes with an initial cash balance of $100,000 USD.
Trade for 20 trading days.
ZooTraders with the highest rates of return will win cash prizes.
ZooTraders who post a positive return will earn ZooPoints which can be used to buy portfolios for cash tournaments, view predictions from 5-Star ZooAnalysts or buy merchandise from the ZooStore.

Start Immediately

Unlike other online stock trading competitions, Zoodak™ hosts monthly tournaments where you can sign up and start trading immediately.

As a ZooTrader you have access to market research and dynamic information on the stock market and indices. You also have access to the analysis provided by the Zoodak™ community. Build your own social network by befriending other ZooTraders to exchange information, strategies, or just to chat.

Your performance will be ranked against other ZooTraders who created their portfolio in the same month. If you are in a cash tournament and your portfolio ends up in the top rankings, you will win cash prizes. Please refer to the specific tournament prize structure details for the prize payout breakdown. Any ZooTrader who posts a positive return will earn ZooPoints in proportion to their performance.

Earn ZooPoints

In cash tournaments, ZooPoints will be awarded as follows:

ZooPoints = 5 * (Final Portfolio Balance – Initial Portfolio Balance) / 100

Participate in Tournaments

Any registered user of Zoodak™ can participate in stock trading tournaments.
Each user can create only 1 portfolio per tournament.
Each portfolio has an initial virtual cash balance of $100,000 USD.
Users can create a portfolio anytime and trade stocks in that portfolio for exactly 20 trading days.
Once a portfolio is created, it belongs to the tournament month in which the portfolio was purchased or started.
Portfolios created anytime during the regular trading hours on a given day, the entire day will count as one trading day.

Trade Stocks

Any common stock listed in NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX is available to trade except for bankrupt companies and OTC stock.

Trading allowed to :

Open Trades: Buy, Short Sell
Close Trades: Sell, Buy to Cover

Orders allowed to :

Open Trades: Market Order, Limit Order
Close Trades: Market Order, Limit Order, Stop Order

How it Works

All of the stock prices shown and executed at Zoodak™ will be based on real time tickers (except as otherwise noted on display as delayed data).
To encourage diversification, users cannot accumulate more than $25,000 worth of a single stock.
Users cannot open trades for more than 1% of the stock’s average daily volume.
Users cannot open trade bankrupt companies and OTC stock.
For Market Orders and Limit Orders, a virtual commission of $10 or 0.5% of the transaction amount, whichever is higher, will be charged per transaction.
Each tournament’s final ranking will be published within 6 hours of the market close of the last trading day for each tournament.
Cash prizes will be awarded to eligible winners within six hours of the market close of the tournament’s last trading day. ZooPoints will be awarded to eligible winners within six hours of the market close of the portfolio’s last trading day.
At market close on the portfolio’s last trading day, any open positions will be closed at market close price and any corresponding virtual commissions will be charged.
Zoodak™ rules and regulations have been implementedto ensure fair play.
